2020
Photo installation dedicated to the 99th anniversary of the death of Nikolai Gumilev, a Russian poet, ethnographer, and military officer, who co-founded with his wife Anna Akhmatova and Osip Mandelstam, the Acmeist literary movement. Acmeism had a far reaching influence on Russian poetry, including the 1988 Nobel Prize winner Joseph Brodsky. In August of 1921, Gumilev was arrested, accused of participating in an anti-bolshevik conspiracy and sentenced to death by a Cheka(the Soviet secret police) investigator and a former army deserter named Eugene Jacobson. His burial place was never revealed.
